In 1985, a colleague treated me
to an Aromatherapy Massage. The
effects were powerful and intriguing,
and shortly after, I began my study
of essential oils. I also learned
the Aromatherapy Full Body technique,
designed by leading Aromatherapists
from Europe, England and Canada.
Within several years, I was training
fellow massage therapists and nurses,
offering approved continuing education
classes for Palm Beach Community
College and then for the LMT Success
Group seminars throughout Florida
and the U.S. I joined the National
Association for Holistic Aromatherapy
in 1997 and became the Southeast
Florida Regional Director. I also
founded my own essential oils company,
Aroma Magic, Inc. I have trained staff at spas,
such as the Marriott World Center,
Orlando and the "W" Hotel,
Times Square and designed custom
signature fragrances. I have been a nationally approved provider of continuing education for Massage Therapists through NCBTMB (#158498-00) for over ten years and am co-director for Carolina Continuing Massage Education www.ccmeseminars.com.
I became a Registered Aromatherapist in 2008. I wrote and taught the curriculum for both Foundations in Aromatherapy and Professional Aromatherapy Level I and II at Greenville Technical College for three years. These courses follow the NAHA guidelines and prepare students for the Registered Aromatherapist exam administered by the Aromatherapy Registration Council (ARC). I now personally teach these courses, as well as A&P for Aromatherapy and additional classes in complimentary energy modalities through the Astralessence School of Professional Aromatherapy and Complimentary Energy Modalities. An online certification program will be available in the near future.
I have served on the Board for the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) as Secretary and currently as Vice President. I also do extensive editing work for the NAHA Journal and other communications. I am a contributing author for the Journal and other publications and since 2003, write an ongoing column, "The Aromatic Message," for Massage Today magazine. These articles can be seen at Massagetoday.com.
The study of Reiki was a natural
expression of my years of energy
work. I have received the third
level initiation. My work with Reiki
and my interest in Oriental Healing
and philosophy brought me to the
study of Jin Shin Jyutsu, another
gentle but powerful healing tool
which incorporates all of my studies
and philosophy. I was trained to facilitate a simple but powerful technique to clear negative energy, EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. This also follows meridian energy pathways and is a wonderful way to get in touch with and release emotions and patterns that cause disharmony in the body and in life situations. I offer these private sessions on the telephone and through SKYPE.
My natural interest and expression
of photography has been enhanced
by my study of Native American philosophy
and a profound respect for the natural
world. A ceremonial offering of
gratitude precedes each photographic
encounter and I believe this is
the reason for the special essence
of the art that results –
a gift from that kingdom and an
acknowledgement of loving relationship. Since moving to the foothills of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains in Upstate South Carolina, I have done less photography but have deeply enjoyed experiencing the seasons, the mountains, rivers and waterfalls and the varied plant and bird life in this region. Nature grows ever more precious to me and is a source of great peace. The literary Muse has been reawakened, resulting in many poems and writings. My first individual book, "Journey to the Meaning of Love," was published in 2010 and is available through Author House and Amazon.
I am a published author in the
fields of astrology, aromatherapy
and Bach Flowers and I will share
these articles with you, along with
my poetry and fiction and wonderful
links to like mind.
Thank you and enjoy your
visit!
Many blessings,
